NCE Passing Standard is Changing

Update will take effect July 1, 2026

The passing standard (minimum score required to pass) will be adjusted on July 1, 2026, to better reflect current professional knowledge and competencies.  This change will take effect for all exams administered on or after July 1, 2026.
Exam content and format will remain the same.

Why this change is happening

According to NBCRNA, they are updating the passing standard:

  • To ensure that individuals who pass the NCE possess the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required for entry-level nurse anesthesia practice.
  • To maintain the credibility and value of the examination.
  • To align with the latest industry standards and expectations.

What do You need to change?

Nothing.
There is nothing you, as a nurse anesthesia resident, need to change. You still need to study the material as you are already doing. The content you need to master remains the same and is reflected in the NCE/SEE Content (see it here).
